HECAS Update

The HECAS terminals are now available at HEU Maktab Duli and they are open to the public to use.

However, please note that you have to bring your IC and be dressed in smart and proper attire, well suited for government buildings before the terminals can be used.

I have heard that there are a few hiccups with the system but I am sure that the proper authorities are trying to fix this to the best of their abilities so please bear with them. You have about a week left so please try and get your HECAS forms sorted out by Monday next week (after the UBD roadshow and UNISSA openday)

More importantly, see your adviser!

HECAS - Update

By now most of you are now familiar with HECAS and have seen what it looks like. Please bear in mind that this is a pilot project so hiccups along the way are expected. Here are a couple of things you need to know,

Section A.

PLEASE PUT mdheunit@gmail.com AS YOUR SECOND EMAIL ADDRESS.
This will enable us to track your status of your higher education applications and also lets us update your student files accordingly!

Section B

Sociology is not in the list so put under 'Others'

Please do the same for your other language AS subjects as well, especially if you don't take General Paper.

The code for English Literature is not correct, we have already informed the correct authorities of this. If you're worried, then put your grade under 'Others'.

If you are sitting for your June exams, you can say so under the 'Other Remarks' section.

Section C

THIS NEEDS TO BE GONE THROUGH WITH YOUR HIGHER EDUCATION ADVISER!
This part is especially important because once youve sumbitted, you cannot change this again so its best to give this part a LOT of thought. See your HEA please!

For those of you who have already submitted your HECAS forms (although I strongly do not recommend this yet) please print out a copy and give to your Higher Education Adviser asap.

For the public, at the moment, the four terminals as promised by DST have yet to be received by Maktab Duli. We will inform you as soon as they arrive.

Thank you.

HECAS is finally launched!

You can now apply for Scholarship, UBD, ITB and UNISSA through HECAS.

More information can be found at the Scholarship Unit and Higher Education Institution Open Day held at ICC which was launched today. They will be open on Sunday 8-5 as well so please do check it out.

Alternatively click here HECAS PORTAL and check out the entry requirements for each institution. They are all easily downloadable and you can also find all the information in the HEU resource library notice board.

Please take note, you can register for HECAS now if you want BUT PLEASE DO NOT SUMBIT YOUR APPLICATION FIRST.

Once you submit there is no way your choices can ever be changed, EVER. Once it's sent, it's gone. You have until the 28th of February. Three weeks. It's not a first come first served basis so THINK YOUR OPTIONS THROUGH.

Discuss your options with your Higher Education Adviser first. Print it out and make an appointment!

Further details on HECAS coming soon, watch this space!

For those who have yet to choose what subjects to take at A level

It's worthwhile checking out the scholarship list, which is a list of courses that are in the country's demands right now.

Please click on the following link to download the PDF file.

THE SCHOLARSHIP LIST

Take note though, this was the list as disseminated in January 2008, thus courses are subject to change. The most updated list for January 2009 should be out very soon.

/ EDITTED - 3rd February 4.45pm

The new scholarship list is now out and it is exactly the same as the one above EXCEPT CIVIL ENGINEERING is no longer on the list. Students, please take note! If you do have a keen interest on civil engineering, do check out the BEng Civil Engineering programme which is available at ITB.

This is just an indication of what areas of specialisation the country needs at the moment. You should look into subjects/courses that suit your PERSONALITY and ABILITIES!
