UK Boarding Schools and Further Education Colleges exhibition - 26 October 2011

There will be a UK Boarding Schools and Colleges exhibition on Wednesday 26 October 2011 from 3pm to 6pm at Songket Hall 1&2, Level 4, The Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.

The event will be participated by 16 boarding schools and further education colleges in the UK. This exhibition is targeted at primary and secondary students. Institutions will offer courses on O and A level, IB, HNC/HND and diploma programmes. It is also suitable for adults looking for career change or study new skills.

There will be a series of free seminars that offers insight on how to choose the right subject to meet chosen university’s or college entry requirements. An overview of both A level and IB programmes will provide a balance appraisal for decision-making process.

3:30 - 4:30pm	Benefits of Studying at College in Scotland	For many students, the choice of pathway providers is overwhelming. This session aims to showcase the advantages of choosing a Scottish FE College when considering a pathway course in the UK. FE Colleges are publicly funded, government institutions that are regularly inspected to meet strict quality standards. Scottish FE Colleges offer a clear route to university by enrolling students in SQA Higher/Advanced Higher Examinations which offer UCAS tariff points. The benefits of this and other advantages will be explained during this seminar.
4:30 - 5:30pm	Deciding on the Right Programme: A-level vs. IB	Overview of both IB and A-level to provide a balanced appraisal of each programme and key pointers in the decision-making process.
5:30 - 6:30pm	How to choose the right subjects in GCSE, A-Level & IB	This seminar offers plenty of tips and insight into choosing the right subjects to ensure you meet your chosen university's or course's entry requirements.

HOME ECONOMICS TEACHER TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP IN SINGAPORE 2012/2013

This is to inform interested students that Singapore's Ministry of Education like in the previous years is offering 2 places every year for the abovementioned scheme. The scheme is offered to student who is interested to take Diploma in Consumer Science and technology with Diploma in Home Economics Education in Singapore for 4 years. The course will start in April 2012. The required academic qualification are as followed;

• Citizen of Brunei Darussalam (Yellow I/C)


• At least ONE Cambridge A'Level and 6 credit in GCE O'Level including Malay, English and Mathematics as well as 2 science subjects.


• Age must be not more than 26 years on 1st September 2012 for Diploma application.

Forms for the above scholarship are availabe at the Higher Education Unit Office, 3rd Floor @ the new building. The deadline for the application would be on the Saturday, 1st October 2011.

NOTICE to UPPER SIXTH 2010

Please note the following updates:
a) Entry for MoE Scholarship has now changed.
For a Degree you need 260 pts and above in three relevant A levels,
for HND 160 points in 2 A levels.
There is no longer a 'scholarship list'. However, students can refer to the 2010 list for guidance on what courses to take. More importantly, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH and STUDY WHAT YOU WANT TO LEARN!

b) Update on courses in UBD

Bachelor of Science

Geology and Petroleum GeoScience in now available for the August 2011intake.

Applied Mathematics, Fundamental Maths and Statistics, Operations Research and Financial Maths is now collectively known as ‘Maths’

Bachelor or Arts

‘Kesusasteraan Melayu’ is offered

Bachelor of Health Science – Min Credit B4 for O level English is required for Medicine.(or B in IGCSE English/7.0 in IELTS/ 6000 in TOEFL)

c) Update on courses in UNISSA

Bachelor of Law – 5 year course with degree in both Law and Syariah

Courses stated are those which are conducted in English. Other courses are available but are conducted in Arabic.

d) What is UNIBRIDGE?

What is HECAS?
An online application form for citizens and PR of Brunei Darussalam to apply for the following
a) MoE Scholarship (Undergraduate degree, HND and Diploma)
b)UBD (Undergraduate degree and Diploma)
c)UNISSA (undergraduate degree only)
d) ITB (Undergraduate degree and HND)

As a Student of Maktab Duli, what do I need to know?
1. Fill in the MOCK HECAS FORM before you log on to the HECAS portal (www.hecas.edu.bn). The Mock HECAS form can be obtained a HEU.
2. Get the details verified and checked by your HEA first before you submit your application to minimise mistakes and so your HEA can give you the information you may need to know.
3. If you are applying for an overseas scholarship YOU MUST ALSO APPLY TO ONE LOCAL INSTITUTION.
You can only select a maximum of two programmes for each institution. charges are as follows,

4. Only enter the best grade obtained for subjects taken in different sittings.
5. Your AS subjects will not be counted as tariff points.

Study in USA - Talk by Dr Joseph Lembright, Regional Education Adviser for South East Asia. Talk will cover aspects of application, admission requirements, the American Education sustem and how to choose a university that's right for you.

Study in Canada - Talk by Peter Chen,Trade Commissioner from the High Commission of Canada. Talk will cover the Canadian Education System, application and admission requirements, how to choose a university and scholarship opportunities.

Activity day with Bahagian Kerjaya dan Kaunseling - choosing the right course for you, personality tests, interview techniques, CV writing. Compulsory for the U6.

Health Sciences in Otago, Sharing Session with current undergraduates from the University of Otago who will talk about what it's like to study Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Psychology etc in New Zealand.
