NOTICE to UPPER SIXTH 2010

Please note the following updates:
a) Entry for MoE Scholarship has now changed.
For a Degree you need 260 pts and above in three relevant A levels,
for HND 160 points in 2 A levels.
There is no longer a 'scholarship list'. However, students can refer to the 2010 list for guidance on what courses to take. More importantly, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH and STUDY WHAT YOU WANT TO LEARN!

b) Update on courses in UBD

Bachelor of Science

Geology and Petroleum GeoScience in now available for the August 2011intake.

Applied Mathematics, Fundamental Maths and Statistics, Operations Research and Financial Maths is now collectively known as ‘Maths


Bachelor or Arts

Kesusasteraan Melayu’ is offered


Bachelor of Health Science – Min Credit B4 for O level English is required for Medicine.(or B in IGCSE English/7.0 in IELTS/ 6000 in TOEFL)


c) Update on courses in UNISSA

Bachelor of Law – 5 year course with degree in both Law and Syariah

Courses stated are those which are conducted in English. Other courses are available but are conducted in Arabic.



d) What is UNIBRIDGE?

UNIBRIDGE

Alternate pathway to enter UBD with lower entry requirements.

One Semester course,

$500 per module


Min Entry Requirements

1 A levels minimum grade D in relevant subjects or 120 points
Minimum Credit C6 in O level English / C in IGCSE English / IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL 550
Credit in O level Maths needed for Bachelor of Business
3 A level passes min grade DDD for Bachelor of Health Sciences

HECAS 2011

What is HECAS?
An online application form for citizens and PR of Brunei Darussalam to apply for the following
a) MoE Scholarship (Undergraduate degree, HND and Diploma)
b)UBD (Undergraduate degree and Diploma)
c)UNISSA (undergraduate degree only)
d) ITB (Undergraduate degree and HND)

As a Student of Maktab Duli, what do I need to know?
1. Fill in the MOCK HECAS FORM before you log on to the HECAS portal (www.hecas.edu.bn). The Mock HECAS form can be obtained a HEU.
2. Get the details verified and checked by your HEA first before you submit your application to minimise mistakes and so your HEA can give you the information you may need to know.
3. If you are applying for an overseas scholarship YOU MUST ALSO APPLY TO ONE LOCAL INSTITUTION.
You can only select a maximum of two programmes for each institution. charges are as follows,

4. Only enter the best grade obtained for subjects taken in different sittings.
5. Your AS subjects will not be counted as tariff points.
6. PLEASE PRINT OUT YOUR HECAS FORM ONCE YOU HAVE SUBMITTED IT. Do not submit unless you are 100% sure of your choices.
7. If you are applying for the following you will need to prepare the following documents

· Copy of relevant ECA certificates

Welcome to 2011!

Here's what's happening in January

18th January - 1.00pm - 1.30pm, COnference Room
Study in USA - Talk by Dr Joseph Lembright, Regional Education Adviser for South East Asia. Talk will cover aspects of application, admission requirements, the American Education sustem and how to choose a university that's right for you.

Thursday 20th and Friday 21st January - 9.30pm - 430pm
InfoDAY EXPO @ ITB
Saturday 22nd January - 2-3pm, Conference Room
Study in Canada - Talk by Peter Chen,Trade Commissioner from the High Commission of Canada. Talk will cover the Canadian Education System, application and admission requirements, how to choose a university and scholarship opportunities.

Monday 24th January - 1.30 -.4.30pm, Place To be confirmed
Activity day with Bahagian Kerjaya dan Kaunseling - choosing the right course for you, personality tests, interview techniques, CV writing. Compulsory for the U6.

Tuesday 25th January - 2-3pm , Conference Room
Health Sciences in Otago, Sharing Session with current undergraduates from the University of Otago who will talk about what it's like to study Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Psychology etc in New Zealand.

Tuesday 25th January - Education UK 2011 Exhibition
1pm-7pm, Rizqun Hotel.

Wednesday 26th & Saturday 29th January - 2-4 pm, Dewan Muzakarah ICC
RTB Media Carnival - Careers in Media. Timetable of career tals is on the HEU noticeboard. Talks will cover administration, engineering, production, news, radio etc. No transport provided. Please make your own way there.

PRE DEPARTURE SHARING SESSION WITH BRUNEIAN STUDENTS IN THE UK

There will be a meet-and-greet sharing session made by Bruneian students currently studying in the UK on

MONDAY 19th JULY 2010
TIME 2.00 – 3.30PM
VENUE: CONFERENCE ROOM

There will be Bruneian student representatives from universities in different parts of the UK such as

This is your opportunity to ask them about

STUDYRAMA Higher Education and Careers Fair

Welcome students to the Third Term. Hopefully you are well and rested and ready for what's to come.


The Higher Education Unit has organised the above event where the details are as follows,

· To expose students to higher education opportunities available locally an abroad.

· To make students aware of career paths in relation to subjects and areas of interest with particular focus on Health, Engineering, Business and Finance and so on.

10-.00 – 12.00 Students to view information booths in the auditorium

or attend the briefings

12.00- 1.30pm: Lunch and Zuhur prayers.

1.45pm Afternoon session for talks continues

4.00pm: Booths Closes

Talk on the Oil and Gas Industry

Hello again students! HEU is happy to announce that there will be a talk on the Oil and Gas Industry organised by SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers).
Don't miss this chance to hear what those who are actually involved in the field have to say. As always there will be a question and answer session apart from them giving you a better idea of what the industry actually does.
